Freshdesk is a customer support platform for managing tickets, email, help-center content, SLAs, routing, and reports. Its Freddy AI suite includes an AI Agent for customers, Copilot for support staff, and Insights for managers.
For this review, we tested Freshdesk’s Freddy AI for ticket routing, agent assistance, and automated customer replies.
The core product is solid. You get ticketing, a knowledge base, automation rules, SLA tracking, and canned responses. Setup takes a day, not weeks. For a team of 5-20 people handling support over email, it covers the basics well and doesn’t overwhelm you with settings.
Freshdesk’s AI is called Freddy, and it comes in two parts. Freddy Copilot helps your agents by suggesting replies, summarizing tickets, and pulling up relevant help articles. Freddy AI Agent is a bot that answers customer questions directly from your knowledge base. Both are useful, but neither is included in the base plan. Copilot costs about $29/agent/mo on top of your subscription. The bot includes 500 sessions on Pro and Enterprise, then charges $49 per 100 sessions after that.
The bot works well for simple, repetitive questions like order status, password resets, and basic how-tos. It doesn’t handle complicated questions, multi-step problems, or anything that isn’t clearly covered in your help docs. Freshworks calls it an “autonomous agent,” but that oversells what it can do today.
One thing that catches people off guard: there are two versions of Freshdesk. The basic one covers email and ticketing. If you need live chat, WhatsApp, or social media support, you need Freshdesk Omni, which starts at $29/agent/mo instead of $19. That difference isn’t obvious on the pricing page.
The free plan also isn’t what it used to be. It now covers 2 agents for 6 months, then you have to pay. It’s a trial, not a permanent option.
Customer support software with shared inboxes, self-service, automation, and practical AI built for teams that don't want to hire an admin to run it.
An AI support agent that earns its keep when ticket volume is high and your documentation is in order.
