Squarespace is an all-in-one website building and hosting platform that lets users create websites, online stores, and portfolios without coding. It provides templates, domain management, ecommerce tools, and built-in marketing features.
Blueprint AI is Squarespace’s approach to AI-assisted site building. Instead of generating a complete site from a single prompt, Blueprint walks you through a structured flow: choose a layout style, select pages, pick fonts and colors, describe your business, and the AI assembles a site that feels curated rather than generated. The difference is subtle but noticeable. The output looks intentional, like someone made deliberate design choices, not like an algorithm filled in a template.
The template library has always been Squarespace’s strength and it remains the most visually consistent in the category. Every template is mobile-responsive, typographically polished, and photographically oriented. The AI generates content and imagery that match the template’s design language.
AI-assisted copy generation drafts page text, product descriptions, and blog content. The output is clean and on-brand but lacks depth. For a services page or product description, it gives you a starting point. For anything that needs personality or specific claims, you’re rewriting.
Ecommerce is included on all paid plans starting from Personal ($16/mo, 3% transaction fee). Business at $23/mo drops the fee to 0%. Commerce Advanced at $65/mo adds abandoned cart recovery, advanced shipping, and subscription products. The ecommerce experience is polished and visually strong.
The limitations are consistent with Squarespace’s philosophy. Customization is controlled. You can adjust within the design system, but you can’t break out of it the way you can in Webflow or Framer. The AI is a guided experience, not a generative one. There’s no prompt box where you describe a site and get one back. And there’s no free plan, just a 14-day trial.
There’s no code export, meaning your site lives on Squarespace infrastructure.
