ClickUp Brain is an AI assistant embedded across ClickUp’s project management platform. It operates inside tasks, docs, chat, dashboards, and automations, using your workspace data as context. Brain was rebuilt from the ground up and relaunched as Brain² in June 2026 with persistent memory, automatic model routing, and agent capabilities.
We tested ClickUp Brain across project planning, task summarization, document drafting, and AI-powered automations. The workspace awareness is what separates Brain from using a standalone AI tool alongside ClickUp. Brain knows your tasks, their statuses, who’s assigned, what’s overdue, what was discussed in docs, and what happened in chat. When you ask “what’s blocking the product launch,” it pulls from actual project data, not from a general knowledge model guessing.
Deep Search is the most practically useful feature. It searches across your ClickUp tasks, docs, and chat, and on Brain MAX, extends to Google Drive, GitHub, OneDrive, and Gmail. For teams with thousands of tasks and hundreds of documents, finding the right information without manually digging through folders saves real time. Ask “where did we document the API rate limits” and Brain returns the specific doc with a source link.
Super Agents are AI coworkers that show up as real users in your workspace. They can be @mentioned, assigned tasks, and scheduled to run recurring work. A “Weekly Standup Agent” that generates a status report from every team member’s completed and in-progress tasks every Monday morning. A “Research Agent” that gathers information and populates a doc when assigned. The concept is powerful. The execution is still maturing. Complex multi-step agent tasks fail more often than they succeed, and the agents can’t access data outside ClickUp and a handful of connected apps.
AI Notetaker joins Zoom, Teams, and ClickUp SyncUps meetings, transcribes the conversation, extracts action items, and creates tasks in your workspace automatically. For teams that lose decisions between meetings and project boards, this closes a real gap.
Predictive project timelines estimate completion dates based on team velocity. Smart task prioritization recommends what to work on next. AI Fields auto-populate custom fields across tasks. These are 2026 additions that push Brain beyond text generation into genuine project intelligence.
The writing capabilities are functional but generic. Task descriptions, project briefs, SOWs, email drafts, and doc content all generate fast with workspace context. But the output quality doesn’t match Claude or ChatGPT for anything requiring nuance, voice, or creative thinking. Brain writes like a PM tool, not like a writer.
Now the pricing. This is where every team needs to model carefully. ClickUp provides limited AI access on its base plans, but full Brain AI and Everything AI require separate workspace-wide upgrades.
The billing detail that matters most: Brain is charged on every paid member in the workspace, not per AI user. You can’t enable it for 5 people on a 30-person team. It’s all or nothing.
The premium you pay for Brain is workspace integration, whether that integration is worth 2–3x the cost of a standalone AI depends entirely on how structured and active your ClickUp workspace is.
