"Grain occupies a unique position: it's the affordable alternative to Gong for teams that want call intelligence, video clips, and CRM integration without enterprise pricing. The video clip workflow is still the best in the category. Select any moment from the transcript, create a shareable clip, and push it to a HubSpot deal or a Slack channel. For sales, CS, and product teams that need to share meeting moments, not just meeting notes, Grain does something no other tool at this price does."

Overview

Grain is an AI meeting recorder that captures, transcribes, and summarizes video calls across Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. Its core differentiator is a video clip and highlight workflow designed for teams that need to share specific meeting moments across the organization, not just store transcripts.

We tested Grain across product research interviews and cross-team knowledge sharing. The video clip workflow is what makes Grain fundamentally different from notetakers. After a meeting, Grain’s AI identifies key moments: decisions, objections, pricing discussions, feature requests, and coaching opportunities. You select any section of the transcript, and Grain creates a shareable video clip of that exact moment. Clips can be organized into playlists (“Q3 pricing objections,” “enterprise feature requests,” “new rep coaching moments”) and shared via link, Slack, or directly to a CRM deal record.

This changes how meeting insights move through an organization. Instead of forwarding a 45-minute recording that nobody watches, a sales manager sends a 90-second clip of how a top rep handled a pricing objection. A product manager shares a 2-minute clip of a customer describing a pain point. A VP reviews a playlist of competitive mentions from the past month. The clip format makes meeting intelligence consumable in a way that full recordings and text summaries don’t.

Grain now offers dual capture modes. Bot-free transcription captures your computer’s audio without a visible participant joining. Bot-attended recording adds video capture and works when you can’t attend the meeting yourself. You choose the mode per meeting based on the context.

Topic Trackers monitor keywords (competitor names, product terms, objection phrases) across all team meetings and trigger notifications when they appear. This surfaces patterns across dozens of calls without anyone manually reviewing recordings.

CRM integration with HubSpot (Starter) and Salesforce (Business) auto-enriches deal records with meeting summaries, highlights, and contact data. AI coaching on the Business tier provides structured performance feedback and coaching scorecards for sales managers.

The MCP server connects Grain’s meeting library to Claude, Cursor, and other AI tools. Ask an AI agent to generate a report from your last 10 customer calls with cited meeting references, and it pulls directly from Grain’s data. The API enables custom automation for teams building meeting-powered workflows.

No mobile app. In-person meetings and phone calls can’t be captured. The tool is video-call-only.

"Grain turns meetings into shareable moments. A 90-second clip of a real customer objection teaches a sales team more than any training deck."

Pros Cons
+ Best-in-class video clip creation for sharing specific meeting moments across teams – No mobile app, can't capture in-person meetings or phone calls
+ Dual capture: bot-free transcription or bot-attended recording, chosen per meeting – Coaching, deal insights, and Salesforce sync locked to Business ($19/seat)
+ MCP server feeds meeting data to Claude, Cursor, and custom AI agents – Free meetings are limited to 45 minutes, and meeting history is retained for only 30 days
+ Unlimited recordings on all paid plans with no per-minute caps – Smaller feature set than enterprise platforms like Gong on forecasting and pipeline analytics

Who would we recommend it to?

  • Sales teams that want Gong-level meeting intelligence at a fraction of the price
  • CS and product teams sharing customer feedback clips across the organization
  • Technical teams building AI workflows around meeting data using MCP and API
  • Managers who coach through real call moments rather than abstract feedback

Skip it if:

  • You need in-person or mobile meeting recording
  • You're an individual who only needs transcription and summaries
  • You need revenue forecasting and pipeline analytics built into the platform
  • You want a personal notetaker, Grain is designed for team-level meeting intelligence
